How deep will the GPS signal be recieved? Could this be used to map out new dive tracks?

@Tomstamp
Sorry, but the GPS signal will not work underwater for any consumer products including the ContourGPS camera.

hi, I bought the countour gps waterproof case but I don’t know how record button works. It seems to be magnetic. Could you explain how it works? Is there any other piece to be attached to the record button? Thanks

@Bruno
Yes, the case’s switch uses a magnet and does not physically make contact with the camera.

Hello, i have the case for mine, but when the camera is installed in the case, i slide the record button on the case but it will not move the record button on the camera it self, do you know how to sort this out ?

@ Daniel
The switch in the case has the same magnet as in the camera’s record switch to prompt the camera to start/stop recording. The case’s switch will not physically move the camera’s switch.

I have the same problem as Daniel. I think there is an issue with your magnet. It will not push the recording trigger and because you cannot by pass this by leaving the camera on recording and switching directly on and off, your underwater case is useless. I am quite annoyed as I missed national geographic quality footage with 4 bronze sharks eating on a bait ball.

@PJ
There are some reports of Contour Waterproof Cases that have the magnet installed incorrectly which can lead to the switch not triggering the camera to start and/or stop recording. To fix this, you will need to flip the magnet on the case. There is an instruction video on Contour’s website here.
