Where Not To Wear The Cam
Advertisers claim that you can wear a helmet camera anywhere at anytime; underwater, skydiving, racing around town. During any activity you can choose to wear a helmet camera to capture all the raw excitement of your dangerous adventures. They are mostly right.
You do have to be a little careful about where you wear your helmet camera, as this video clearly shows. Trying to impress your friends with your cool new car as you race around town is not going to happen if you knock the camera off getting into the car. Seriously, think before you try to look cooler than you are. Take a little time to plan out things like clearance.
This driver can just edit this part out and save himself some embarrassment, but imagine if he had someone with him. Imagine if he was filming his base-jumping adventure and caught his helmet on some rigging, embarrassing and dangerous. Still, a little funny, too.
It’s a good thing you can edit your videos later, but since you are going for point-of-view when you wear one of these cameras, if you do something stupid and lose the you’ll have to start over. The video needs to look seamless start-to-finish so you’ll need a retake. That is, if you didn’t really wreck the camera, helmet, or both.
