Flat lens for GoPro HD Hero

This flat polycarbonate lens fixes the underwater focus/blurry problem caused by the original GoPro HERO's curved lens. With the flat lens the GoPro camera can take crisp high definition underwater video. The flat lens is a drop-in replacement for the original GoPro housing curved lens with a depth rating of up to 180ft.

This lens is made of Polycarbonate resin, an amorphous thermoplastic material noted for its outstanding impact strength, superior dimensional stability, glass-like transparency, excellent thermal resistance, and low-temperature toughness.

To install the flat lens, simply remove the screws of the black plastic bezel with a precision Phillips screwdriver, remove the bezel and set it aside. Take out the curved lens and separate the black o-ring from the lens and place it back in the housing. Put the flat lens on top of the o-ring, no sealant or glue is needed. Replace the bezel lining up the holes and tighten the bezel screws in a crisscross pattern. Be careful not over tighten the bezel screws as this may compress the rubber o-ring too much, making it expand into the field of view of the camera.

The flat lens comes with a separate spacer. The spacer is a simple rubber gasket that fits over the GoPro camera lens stem, and prevents the newer HERO2 camera from being pushed against the housing lens. See the spacer usage guide below to determine if the spacer should be used with your camera:

Gopro HD HERO2 and glass flat lens - Spacer must be used
Gopro HD HERO and glass flat lens - Spacer not required
Gopro HD HERO 960 and glass flat lens - Spacer not required

Note: Be sure to test your housing at desired depth before using it with a camera. GoPro warranty does not protect against water leakage when replacing the lens as it is an end user product assembly.
